It was raining all day again, fixed my blog and
unpacked everything in my new home.
10th October
Marzipan is too cheap- sugar poisoning. I signed out from
the hostel and moved my things to my Erasmus coursemate’s place. He himself
went to the Venice Biennale with his class so I can stay here for few days. His room
is almost too big compared to London standards ( aprox twice as big as I was living in London,
maybe more than 25m²)
Serious flat search and feeling guilty for not being
very sociable with other the flatmates. They are very nice friendly people. 3
girls and 1 boy.
Distance walked today 18.5 km, saw 2 flats. It was
raining most of the day.
Eventually found a room, will be moving in
tomorrow‼‼

October
First Erasmus meeting, Welcoming package, school tour and
signing up for printmaking workshops. There is 11 of us here: from Helsinki,
Gent, Angers, Bukarest, Brussels, Ljubljana, Zürich, Jerusalem and 3 from
Camberwell. Everybody is very nice and I am looking forward to get to know them
better. We also had our first official and supercheap school lunch and got know
our Erasmus tutors Florian and Silas who are themselves students here at HGB.
Seems that
it is not so easy to get away with English here as I thought as many people,
especially the older generation, doesn’t speak no English at all. Sign language
mimics and just pretending helps a lot. Just nodding, looking serious and
saying jaa jaa, danke. In general seems that everybody at HGB is really serious
about art and being an artist is like a special status. However, at the same time it is suprisingly
relaxed and bohemian, artistic (also about some of the health and safety
rules*)
Went to see
one flat today.
